Apartment Balcony Garden Ideas

If you live in a place where your neighbors are essentially right on top of you, it’s possible that you have thought about how you can get more privacy.  You can use plants to build a living wall to keep curious eyes off of your balcony.  Add comfy furniture and mood lighting to make your private oasis more comfortable!

Eco-friendly balcony garden ideas

Creating a sustainable balcony garden is rewarding and highly beneficial.  Instead of buying new furniture, in particular cheap furniture, you can repurpose furniture that you already have.  Cheap furniture, also known as fast furniture, is devastating to the planet.  Additionally, you can add a garden to your balcony so that you can grow some of your own food.  By adding a small compost you can collect food scraps that can then be used to fertilize your garden.

Small balcony garden ideas

Even if your outdoor space is small, you can turn it into a jungle.  Use the railing and any wall space you have to hang plants instead of putting them on the ground.  If you have room for furniture, choose pieces that are versatile.  For example, a table that collapses into the railing and a chair that is comfortable for both sitting and reclining.

Dog-friendly balcony garden ideas

If you have a furry friend, you likely want to be able to share your outdoor space with them.  Make sure that your space is safe for your pet by only including non-toxic plants and ensuring that they cannot leap over or squeeze through the railing.
