Self-discovery is a fantastic tool to use if you’re interested in personal growth.  Through the practice of self-discovery, you can learn more about yourself and identify a clearer path forward so that you can achieve your goals, whatever they may be.  The benefits of self-discovery are endless.  Self-discovery can help you:

  • Boost emotional intelligence
  • Communicate more effectively
  • Reduce anxiety and improve mental health
  • Become more resilient 
  • Make more informed decisions
  • Improve your outlook
  • Become more organized and forced
  • Increase confidence
  • Identify your strengths and weaknesses
  • Recognize your wants and needs
  • Develop more meaningful relationships

 




 

A great way to practice self-discovery is by answering a set of questions as honestly and with as little judgment as possible.  You can then immediately reflect on your answers or you can look back on them in a few days, weeks, or months. 

This process is healing and will aid you in moving forward in life with confidence and a profound understanding of yourself.  The relationship you have with yourself is critically important, so it’s crucial to know how to properly care for yourself and understand what you want and need to succeed.  Self-discovery can truly help you become the best version of yourself.

Below are examples of both personal and family self-discovery questions.  These questions can help you both get to know yourself and gain insight into your familial relationships.  You can also find additional printable self-discovery questions from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences that you can print out to write on.
