EASY CINNAMON ROLLS

When I was a child, my mom would make homemade cinnamon rolls.  What a treat that was!  They tasted so good you wanted to eat them all.  When I moved out on my own I assumed all cinnamon rolls were created equal.  That is not the case.  Now children are are fine with the canned cinnamon rolls.  The thought of these canned sweet rolls actually turns my stomach.  But the idea of making these divine treats from scratch seems daunting.  The need to find an easy cinnamon rolls recipe was on my mind.

Sometimes I cheat and I head over the my local farmers market and buy them.  Until one day I ran into some friends and they asked why I was buying at the market instead of my making my own.  They tell other people how much I love to bake and how much they love my treats.  Oops, busted.

The thing about making them from scratch is that they are extremely time consuming.  So I wanted to find a way to make these without having to plan days ahead.  Therefore, I needed to find an easier method.

Then one day I decided to get the grocery stores pizza dough and make pizzas.  It dawned on me I could use that dough to make cinnamon rolls just as easily as pizza.  So I went on my own personal mission to make this work.  And guess what?  It does…and it’s an easy cinnamon rolls recipe.  Perfect for these busy times we live in.

So, the first step is to pick up pre-made pizza dough from the bakers section of your grocery store.  You may also be able to get this at a local pizzeria.  My container was 14 ounces but give or take a little will be fine.  You want to make sure it comes to room temperature and proofs according to directions on container.

Next roll the dough out until it comes to about an 1/8 inch thick.  Spread the melted butter evenly over the dough.

Then slice the dough into equal sections to make 9 rolls.

Place the rolls in an 8 x 8 square baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes.  The rolls should be touching in the pan before baking.  After baking let them cool for 5-10 minutes and pour the glaze on.  These easy cinnamon rolls are so yummy and very easy!  I like that.
