BENEFITS OF DRY BRUSHING YOUR SKIN

Exfoliates Dead Skin

My skin gets so dry, especially in the winter.  Dry Brushing gently, once or twice a week, will help remove dead skin and also give skin a fresh, healthy appearance.

Reduces Stress

Dry brushing will relax you just like getting a massage.  This will then help with anxiety.  The less stress we have, the healthier our body is.

Unclog Pores

Our pores can get clogged by cosmetics and other man made chemistries surrounding us.  Our skin will be able to absorb more nutrients, prevent acne and blackheads and also be healthy when using a dry brush.

Improves Circulation

My job requires me to sit all day at a desk.  I have to get up every so often to get my blood moving.  If we don’t have good circulation, problems can happen such as, cellulite and varicose veins.  When our skin is dry brushed gently, it helps the blood flow and get our circulation moving.  Not having a good blood flow can also cause cardiovascular problems.

Reduces Cellulite

Some of us have cellulite on our legs, butt or stomach.  Dry brushing may help stimulate the cells and break down toxins from beneath the skin.  It tightens the skin which gives less space for cellulite.

Increase Energy

Dry Brushing gets the circulation moving helping us feel alert and energetic.  Do this first thing so you feel awake and ready to start the day.

Skin is Firm and Soft

Using the brush will help keep our skin soft, smooth and toned.

How to Dry Brush

  • Start by brushing your feet with long strokes towards the heart.  Do this about 10 times over each skin section.  Don’t use back and forth or circular motions.
  • Next, brush your legs using the same motion, long strokes upwards towards the heart.
  • Continue the same motions with the palms of your hands, arms and back.
  • Continue brushing your stomach and chest.
  • Use a soft bristle to brush your face and neck or any other areas of your body that might be sensitive.
  • After the whole body is finished, shower and moisturize the entire body.

Tips When Dry Brushing Your Skin

  • Use in the morning before taking a shower.   Do not get your skin wet and use the brush.  It is for dry skin only.
  • Before using the brush, test a small area on your skin to make sure your skin is not sensitive.
  • If you feel your skin did not react to the brushing, continue with the your whole body.  After your done, moisturize your body with a natural lotion.
  • Be gentle on your skin and don’t over brush.  Harsh brushing could cause tearing, irritation, dehydration or infection.
  • Use a soft bristle when brushing your face or other sensitive areas on your body.
  • Buy a brush with a long handle (to reach your back) and one that has natural, soft bristles.
  • Don’t brush everyday.  Brushing removes the protection so only brush once a week up to a couple times.
  • Always brush in long strokes, never brush back and forth.
  • Brush towards the heart, going over each skin section about 10 times.
  • After each use, make sure to clean with soap and water then air dry.

So, after reading all the benefits of using a dry brush, it’s definitely worth trying.  It doesn’t take long and is also an affordable way to take care of your skin.
