Hi everyone!! Can you believe Halloween is only one month away? This is such a fun time of the year for not only children, but also adults. During the month of October there are so many fun things to do. I thought it would be nice to get a head start and give some ideas of what Halloween activities are available for any age to do!!

My husband and I were driving home from a trip along the East Coast and saw this gigantic pumpkin a few years back. It is probably the biggest pumpkin I’ve ever seen and wanted to share it with everyone!! Not sure where it’s going but I’m sure it was a nightmare loading it onto the trailer.
11 Halloween Ideas for the whole family
1. Pumpkin Patch
Halloween wouldn’t be the same without picking out some pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. Pick between little pumpkins or big pumpkins! Either will decorate a room or porch and get your house in the Halloween spirit.
2. Carve Pumpkins
After you find the perfect pumpkin, see who can carve the scariest face. Make sure there is an adult present to help with the carving if children are present.
3. Hay Ride or Corn Maze
Sometimes, you can find pumpkin patches that give a hayride or even a corn maze. When my sister was in town a few years back, we all went to a cute little pumpkin patch that had a hayride. See what the pumpkin patches have to offer that are near you.
4. Make an amazing costume
The first year I began dating my now husband, he took me to a Halloween party he was a DJ for. He loves Deadmau5 so decided to make the mouse head for his costume. It took about a month for him to get all the supplies and figure out how to put it together. But you can see he did an outstanding job. He even got it to light up. Maybe you want something unique or need to save money, whatever the reason is, making your own costume can be a lot of fun and also very rewarding!!
5. Go to or have a Halloween Party
So, your all dressed up and no where to go? Check around to see where the Halloween parties are. If none of them interest you, have your own. Have fun and show off your costume!!
6. Make Spooky Treats
Take a look on Pinterest and see what you can find when searching for Halloween treats. There are so many cute Halloween ideas for making treats. They can be brought to a party or put out for an after dinner snack for the whole family.
7. Bob for apples
Bobbing for apples is a great party idea for adults and kids. This can be set up right in your backyard otherwise for a weekend activity. Make it interesting and get some prizes and give out to the person who gets the most apples.
8. Visit a haunted house / Ghost train ride
I haven’t been to a haunted house in quite a few years now, but use to really get into them awhile back. A few years ago, we had found one that was about one hour away but worth the drive. First you got on a haunted train that then took you to the haunted house. It was something different and a lot of fun. Get a group of friends or family members and spend the night holding hands as you make your way through a haunted house near you.
9. Halloween parade
On that same trip my husband and I were on along the East Coast, we drove to Salem, Massachusetts and on that very day we arrived, there was a Halloween parade going on that night. I had never gone to a Halloween parade before and was super excited to see this. There were a lot of people in the parade dressed up and enjoying themselves. Not sure how easily these parades are to find but I recommend going if you are able to. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us.
10. Make Halloween decorations / Decorate the house
What I did one year was wait until after Halloween and check out the clearance section for Halloween decorations. I was able to get about 80% off some really cute items. Another idea is to make your own decorations. Find some DIY tutorials on Pinterest and deck your place out with your handmade creations.
11. Trick or Treating
Finally, it just wouldn’t be Halloween without trick or treating. Whether it’s handing out the candy to the trick-or-treaters or taking your children out to receive candy, it makes this day complete. I’ve attached a few pictures of my daughter Paige, when she was a little girl going out trick or treating. Teletubbies and Bear in the Big Blue House were popular when she was little, so that’s what she went as shown here.
So, if your looking for some fun activities to do this Halloween, hopefully this list will give you some ideas on how to make your Halloween extra special.
