This is going to be your new home, so you can spruce it up as you please. However, before you think of decorating it, you need to ensure that you have all the essentials that you need to start a new life.
Depending upon where you’re going to be living, you can decide what to bring along with you. Some places provide you with a few of the essential items, while others expect you to carry them along. Either way, you should ask the concerned authorities about what they will be providing you with before making any purchases.

Bedsheets and Pillows
Whoever underestimates the importance of good bedsheets and pillows in the making of an ideal bedroom is wrong. When you set up a bedroom, you must prioritize comfort. A good bedsheet will ensure your skin feels good against it at all times. Most people go with 100% Egyptian cotton bedsheets, which are both durable and feel like a dream on the skin! You can even get creative with them and include different prints and colors to spruce your room up. Since your bed is probably the first thing one lays their eyes on upon entering your room, you ought to keep it looking good. Similarly, a set of good pillows will ensure you sleep comfortably while supporting your head!
Cushions
What’s a room without some good old cushions? Cushions make the room cozy, comfortable, and more homely. They also act as seats when you have many people over and fall short of seating space. Sleeping with extra cushions on the bed is always a blessing, so you can never have too many cushions. Plus, they look super cute when you slip colorful covers on. An easy way to add some brightness to your room, without spending too much!
Laundry Bin
One of the most underrated items in your bedroom is a laundry bin. Without the presence of a laundry bin, your clothes will probably be scattered around the room. Or dumped on the dreaded laundry chair, which is often ignored for months together. It also helps save up on space, especially if you have a compact room. So, to keep your room looking neat and organized, get a laundry bin! You could also use it to carry your dirty laundry from your place to the laundry room, in a hassle-free manner.
An Electric Kettle
An electric kettle will do you good during your university years. It’s portable and easy to use, making it the perfect addition to your uni room essentials. It’ll help keep you hydrated and give you the liberty to drink warm water whenever you would like to. If you’re ever feeling under the weather or need to keep your throat warm, you can reach for the kettle! You could also brew yourself with fresh tea from the comfort of your room! Or coffee, if you need your daily dose of caffeine.
Stationery
At the end of the day, you’re a student at university and need to get studying done. So, your study supplies must be included in your university essentials list. Stationery forms a large part of your academic supply, so ensure you stock up on plenty of it. These include pens, paper, highlighters, paper clips, colored pens, staplers and notepads. Keep a glue stick and some scissors along, just in case. You could neatly arrange them all on your study desk so that they’re within easy reach whenever you need them.
