12 Mocktails to Wow Your Sober Party Guests

Whether you or a loved one are facing alcohol abuse or addiction, or you’re simply trying to cut back as a New Year’s resolution, mocktails are a fun way to enjoy a thirst-quenching beverage without all the potential downsides of alcohol. Below are a few easy-to-make mocktails that will impress your party guests.

Arnold Palmer

This classic concoction is nothing more than equal parts iced tea and lemonade. Adventurous types can add ginger or lemon juice to give this drink a kick.

Virgin Margarita

Virgin margaritas should be a mainstay at any party and can be pre-made and put in a punch bowl or a pitcher. This drink can be blended using a pre-made non-alcohol margarita mixture poured over ice or as a combination of ingredients such as limeade, orange juice, and lime juice blended with ice into a slushy treat. Don’t forget to garnish it with a citrus wedge and put salt on the rim.

Shirley Temple

A Shirley Temple combines lemon-lime soda or ginger ale with grenadine syrup. You can add a maraschino cherry for a pop of color.

Mango Mule

As the name implies, a mango mule is a refreshing twist on a Moscow mule, minus the vodka. To make this, blend up some frozen mango with ginger beer and the juice from a lime wedge. Typically, these are served in a copper mug with a lime slice.

Roy Rogers

A Roy Rogers is similar to a Shirley Temple but made with cola instead of ginger ale. You can add grenadine and garnish with maraschino cherries as well.

Virgin Paloma

In a cocktail shaker, mix grapefruit juice, lime juice, salt, and club soda. Rim a glass with salt or Tajin seasoning and fill with ice before pouring in the mixture and you have a delicious Virgin Paloma. You can also add a wedge of grapefruit or lime for an extra flourish.

Non-Alcoholic Mojito

Mix up some mint leaves and lime wedges with simple syrup, then combine them with club soda over ice. Garnish with mint.

Virgin Piña Colada

Blend pineapple juice, coconut milk, and ice into a slush and top it with whipped cream and toasted coconut flakes.

Chocolate Martini Mocktail

Mix chocolate syrup with coffee liqueur and milk or cream. Shake well with ice and strain into a martini glass for a delicious dessert-like drink.

Wassail

Traditionally, wassail combines apple cider, orange juice, lemon juice, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and maple syrup heated on the stovetop. This drink is perfect for chilly evenings, when getting cozy with a warm beverage is more appealing than a drink blended with ice.

Berry Lemon Fizz

Combine lemonade, raspberry syrup, and club soda to make a Berry Lemon Fizz. You can top it with fresh raspberries and blueberries.

Cucumber Spritzer

Add cucumber slices and mint leaves in a glass, fill with club soda, and add a lime wedge. While it sounds simple, there are few non-alcoholic drinks more refreshing, especially on a hot summer day.

Mocktails open up a world of deliciousness for people wanting to go the non-alcoholic route at a gathering. The drinks listed above are just a small sample of the many mocktail recipes out there. Offering alcohol-free choices shows your guests that you care about their comfort, health, and safety, so don’t forget to mix up a batch at your next party.
